Damerham Archaeology Project
A small team of archaeologists worked just south of Stapleton Farm near Damerham in September 2008 after aerial photographs taken by English Heritage revealed some interesting features in these fields. They undertook a few days of geophysical survey to find out more about these traces.
On the basis of this work they think that the land contains some prehistoric archaeological sites of very great significance - possibly of national importance.
The team is setting up a project called Damerham Archaeology Project to carry out more work on these sites - and also to investigate other features of archaeological and historical interest in and around Damerham. A website for the project has been set up at:
The website contains more details of the project and some very interesting aerial photographs, together with contact details for the team.
There is more information about Damerham’s history in our history section here.
